Rules & Regulations

Steel City Classic is sanctioned by USA Dance and the competition will follow the rules and guidelines set forth by USA Dance.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST BE A VALID MEMBER OF USA DANCE. A current valid USA Dance is required to register. If you need to renew your membership prior to registration please refer to the USA Dance website

All syllabus events will be STRICTLY INVIGILATED. Please see the USA Dance site for allowable syllabus figures

COSTUME RULES WILL BE ENFORCED. Please visit the USA Dance site for all the rules and regulations.

COMPETITOR AGE is based on birth year, not birth date. If each competitor in a couple is of different age groups, select the higher level. For example, Gentleman is in Junior II and Lady falls under Junior 1. As a couple, they should compete in Junior II).

Senior Competitors, however, may compete in two age levels, entering in a lower age category. For example, Senior II may also enter Senior I, in the same dances only.

• Pre-teen 0-11 (born in or after 2001)
• Junior 12-15 (born in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000)
• Youth 16-18 (born in 1994, 1995, or 1996)
• Collegiate 16 -29 (with a vaild Student ID)
• Adult 19 + (born in 1993 or earlier)
• Senior I 35 + (born in 1977 or earlier)
• Senior II 45 + (born in 1967 or earlier)
• Senior III 55 + (born in 1957 or earlier)
